Senior Associate Consultant
Lew Gemell, as the Senior Associate Consultant commenced with HMA in 2012. An experienced industry professional with some 30 years at senior management level, Lew has strong hands-on operational experience at large bar and restaurant operations across a wide range of brands in Sydney and Australia. An experienced manager, he is widely respected for his in depth operational knowledge and his strong mentoring skills in training hospitality managers.
Lew’s skill set also extends to a strategic level having had considerable experience in creating and implementing business and operational plans, incorporating the negotiation of commercial agreements, activation of business development plans and ensuring customer service delivery. Coupled with strong financial management capabilities and compliance knowledge, Lew has developed a comprehensive understanding of the myriad of challenges encountered by venue owners and operators.
Lew’s recent consulting experience has been with the Sydney Theatre Company (assisting in the over-sight of operations for the Theatre-Bar-at-the-end-of-the Wharf), the Hawthorn Arts Centre Catering Tender & Mobilisation, St John’s College (University of Sydney) Catering & Cleaning Tenders, the National Arboretum Canberra Catering Tender and Management Assistance and the National Museum of Australia. Other key clients have included Venues West, Venues NSW, Sydney Cricket & Sports Ground Trust, Rookwood General Cemeteries Reserve Trust, Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries, Harbord Bowling Club, Muirfield Golf Club and Whim Creek Operations in Western Australia.
